To satisfy the food needs of humanity, man uses to his advantage photosynthesis. Agriculture needs for this arable soil and water, two resources very unevenly distributed on the surface of the planet, fragile and available in limited quantities. It competes with the natural biodiversity. Vegetal biomass produced by agriculture is a source of food but also a source of fuel or biofuels. These two productions are in competition.
